Nepal advances clean air project

The government has started working on the ‘Nepal Clean Air and Prosperity Project (NCAP)’ which will begin in the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084.

This project, which is worth Rs 8.71 billion (about 57 million US dollars), aims to control air pollution, help industries become greener, and promote cleaner air.

The project is now ready to start after the World Bank approved a loan of 52 million US dollars and a grant of 5 million US dollars.

Gyanraj Subedi, the Director General of the Department of Environment, is confident that the NCAP will bring meaningful improvements to how Nepal manages air quality.Nepal advances clean air project.

He said the project is expected to greatly reduce industrial pollution, especially as industries move towards using clean energy.

He added, “We are working to make the monitoring system more effective.
As industries start using clean energy, pollution levels should decrease within the next five years.”
