Devotees are celebrating ‘Krishna Janmashtami,’ the yearly Hindu celebration commemorating the birth of Master Krishna, on Monday.

As per Hindu sacred writings, Master Krishna was born at midnight on Bhadrakrishna Ashtami amid the Dwapara Yuga.

On this day, aficionados run to Krishna sanctuaries, fasting and remaining up all night in expectation of his birth. Hindus accept that Master Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Master Vishnu, was born to ensure humankind from treachery, oppression, and fiendish forces.

In Kathmandu, different devout associations stamp the event with parades including tableaus of Ruler Krishna.

Here are a few of the Photographs of the celebration in Patan and Basantapur captured by Post’s photojournalist Hemanta Shrestha.
