
Thousands of lovers assembled at Matatirtha Kunda in ward 6 of Chandragiri Region on Sunday to check Mata Tirtha Aunsi, a celebration respecting mothers.
Pilgrims took sacred showers in the lake and made offerings to supplicate for the ‘liberation of their mothers’ souls’. Numerous accept the custom liberates them from maternal debt.
Mata Tirtha Aunsi falls on the unused moon day of Baisakh beneath the lunar calendar. The yearly occasion draws huge swarms to the sacrosanct lake southwest of Kathmandu.
